Our COVID-19 updates and more.

Hi and welcome to our page dedicated to updating you on how COVID-19 and other communicable diseases affect our course of action to deliver you the best product possible while keeping us all safe and healthy and happy.

This page will updated frequently and will let you know what we are offering from our menu, the measures we are taking to keep you safe, what to expect when you arrive and how to prepare yourselves for your adventure with us!

Thank you for reading and we look forward to seeing you on our beautiful islands very soon.

The following is our information to you and is updated as required by WorkSafeBC and BC Public Health Regulations.

Our 2022 update:

Thank you thank you thank you!  To everyone who visited us throughout these last 2 incredibly challenging years, as well as those who thought about us but just couldn't quite make it over to visit. Thank you for your willingness to get a personal experience on our Salish Sea and our beautiful Pender Islands (S'DAYES) while respecting all of our extra safety protocols. As we move into the 2022 season, we must stay diligent in our efforts to keep the

OPEN FOR THE 2022 SEASON ON APRIL 1.

Our online booking calendar for 2022 is ready!  Please follow the prompts on your chosen experience by clicking the book now button to create your experience.

The following are protocols we will follow throughout the 2022 season.

Our outdoor check-in area and outdoor experience will allow us all to be exempt from wearing face coverings, as long as we maintain our distancing protocols.  Please respect our team and others around you that are not a part of your group. If you are to come into our store to look at retail items, we ask that you put on a mask (as long as they are mandated).  We are also happy to walk out of our small store while you peruse our retail items.

On any tour, please maintain your distance from our chosen leader for your tour.  Should any type of incident happen where we must get within our distancing protocols, we will maintain any face covering protocols in effect at that time.

All rentals of sea kayaks must have at least one group leader that is experienced enough to lead their group in preparations and keeping the group safe while adventuring. This means we show you your vessels, explain any technical aspects of the kayaks (seat and food pedal adjustments), and let you take care of the rest.

On all of our web pages, there is a link to a digital version of our waiver to read and understand ahead of time.  Please do not  bring completed forms with you. We require that you read and fully complete any legal forms on site, prior to your chosen activity. We will have printed copies available for you upon your arrival.

How we have prepared for your visit to our adventure centre:

Hand sanitizer is available at all times to you. Your equipment will be fully cleaned by a team member that uses disinfectant approved by BC Health Authority. If you have any sickness related symptoms, you will have the option to cancel your booking with full refund up to 24 hours prior to your activity (30 days for multi day trips) or we will give you full credit to use at a later date in 2022. Please read below for specific information regarding your chosen activity (tours, lessons, rentals).

Tours:

We will begin by offering our 2.5 hour and 4 hour daytime kayak tours to groups of up to 6 persons for one guide, and up to 12 with two guides, and stand up paddleboard tours with a 1:6 guide to guest ratio.

Prior to getting on the water, we will have a comprehensive orientation about safety on the water, including proper paddle use and what will happen in the event an incident occurs.

This includes: Proper pfd fitting, basic padding stroke technique, how to adjust your foot pedals in a kayak, how to employ and deploy your sprayskirt, proper entry and exit from your kayak, and lastly what you need to know and what we do should you fall out of your kayak during your chosen tour.

After this demonstration and once you understand the procedures, we will guide you down to the kayak launch zone and begin our journey together. For your safety, we will be only guiding you close to the shoreline, incase of any emergency requirements to get to shore easily and quickly.

Courses:

We run courses sanctioned by Paddle Canada in Sea Kayaking and Stand Up Paddleboarding. These courses offer certification through Paddle Canada, a not-for-profit National Paddling Organization that is recognized worldwide.  We are continuing to add course dates to our schedule daily. Please refer back to this page frequently for further updates or contact us with your requested dates and group size.

Rentals:

Our rental program is very much about safety and always has been. Sorry if you feel we are strict with our guidelines. These are solely in place FOR YOUR SAFETY!

You MUST have experience with your chosen activity for the waters you would like to paddle. You will most likely be required to give proof of experience (certification card) so please have that ready for us to see. Minimum requirements are sea kayak re-entry knowledge. You may be denied your rental if you cannot prove your experience level. Multi day rentals will require more experience, such as tide and current readings, weather forecasting, solid safety skills.

If you have low experience and still would like to get out there, we have options for you. They are limited to rentals within the bay you are paddling, with specific equipment.  The following are explanations of such.

Stand Up Paddleboard rentals:

You may rent a SUP for up to 4 hours, with a minimum of 2 persons in your group, without any prior experience. If you would like to rent for a longer length of time, we will require you provide proof of experience in SUP as well as leaving us a Float Plan as to full details of your intended paddling experience.

Kayak Rentals:

Rentals: Our rental program is very much about safety and always has been. Due to Transport Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard team having limited staff and requiring distance measures of less than 6' for most emergency situations, we will be very strict with our guidelines.

Our rental program is a 'self serve' operation this season. Meaning we show you your equipment from a distance, let you collect it, we will direct you down to your rental, show you any specific knowledge pertaining to your rental, and let you launch with your group. If you require assistance with any type of launch, please contact us when you make your booking to ensure we can offer help to you in any way we can.

You MUST have experience with your chosen activity for the waters you would like to paddle. You will be required to give proof of experience (certification card) so please have that ready for us to see. You may be denied your rental if you cannot prove your experience level.

If you have low experience and still would like to get out there, we have options for you. They are limited to rentals within the bay you are paddling (we will designate areas for you prior to your rental).

We have the right to limit and discern what type of kayak you will be able to paddle, and for what length of time. If you have learned rescue techniques but it's been a long time and forget what to do, you may rent a double kayak with a friend for up to 4 hours.

If you do know your sea kayak rescues and are confident rescuing others in need and are the only one in your group with this knowledge, you may rent single kayaks for up to 4 hours, with a maximum of 4 persons in your group.

If you are proficient in rescues, know how to roll, have a group of competent paddlers, please contact us and we will discuss your paddling needs and set you up with the right program.
